Travelling in My Mind Project

Explore the evolution of digital art from 2022 to 2025.
Dive into the creative journey and experience the process as it unfolds.

It Begins

2022 - 2023
Photography, for me, is an intuitive art—an exploration of light, movement, and form. Inspired by Impressionism and Japanese woodblock prints, I love pushing the limits of the camera to see what it can create. My background in art history and darkroom photography has shaped my vision, but I’m always looking for new ways to evolve.

My Japanese Craze

Exploring Japansese Historic Books and Art

2023 was a big year for me studying Japanese historical literature and art, and I even ventured into manga. It all started in 2022 with Samurai Art and Ukiyo-e, floating world Art. A visit to the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm gave me the sublime experience of seeing Ando Hiroshige's woodblock prints in the Japan exhibition. I also got several photos during the journey, which I used for the backgrounds of the evolved images of 2024.

It Evolves

Inspiration from art gives me a different perspective than photography. I love the play of light and shadow in Impressionism—incidentally, that’s what the Japanese call komorebi—the dance of sunlight through leaves. It’s said to be an experience that brings true happiness.

When I photograph my background images, I look for light and vibrant colours to transform digitally, creating unique backgrounds. These photos cannot be planned—they happen in the moment. And that is a challenge I wholeheartedly embrace.

2024 - 2025
The background of my 16th digital artwork comes from the same series of photographs that sparked Travelling in My Mind. Unlike my early attempts, these images are unique—impossible to replicate. I create abstract backgrounds and use black silhouettes to tell my story. That’s nothing new for me—I’ve always been drawn to silhouettes, whether in nature, street photography, or portraits. This project just takes that fascination a step further, with a nod to my favourite artists who, like me, were inspired by Japonism.
